Day 1: Explore Tirana

You'll be collected at 1 pm from Tirana airport - most people like to arrive early so that they can explore this colourful capital. In the evening, you'll meet your fellow travel companions over a night of traditional Albanian food, in the heart of the city.

Day 2: Kayak Lake Ulza

Today is a relaxed day of kayaking through the crystal-clear waters of Ulza National Park. In the afternoon, you'll head to Tina and Artan's house for a delicious meal, made using locally sourced ingredients from their farm. Afterwards you'll head over to your guesthouse in Vlora, on the Adriatic coast.

Day 3: Snorkel Albania's National Marine Park

Jump onto your speedboat and head to the Karaburun Peninsula - you may even see some turtles, seals and dolphins. Enjoy some snorkeling in a remote bay inside the Karaburun-Sazan National Marine Park - the only reserve of its kind in the country, and home to some amazing marine life. Afterwards, you'll head to an isolated beach for a picnic lunch. In the evening you'll stay in the Berat UNESCO world heritage site, with it's picturesque white Ottoman houses. A traditional Albanian dinner is all part of the experience!

Day 4: Enter the Osumi Canyon

Today you enter the Osumi Canyon - known as one of the most spectacular gorges in Europe. You'll river-hike or raft, depending on the water levels, along the river Osum. The scenery is a dramatic contrast of unspoiled pine forests, steep cliffs and the famous Love Waterfall. There are also some river jumps for those who want! In the evening we'll all head back to Berat, with some time to explore the town a little more and check out some of the local restaurants.

Day 5: Hike the Tomorr Mountains

After breakfast, you hike the rugged trails through the Tomorr Mountains. The trek starts high up, and the views are spectacular! Enjoy a picnic lunch, before heading over to the Sotira Waterfall. In the evening, you'll visit the Alpeta Winery for dinner and some wine tasting.

Day 6: Return to Tirana

Descend 360m underground into the Cave of Pellumbas, and check out the spectacular stalagmites and stalactites! After lunch in a local village, you'll have a short guided tour of the city center, before heading back to the airport for 6 pm.

In truth I didn’t really know what to expect from Albania. All I can say is wow; the country is truly beautiful and I have never been made to feel more welcome. Blerina is a fantastic guide who takes great pride in her business and vision to promote sustainable tourism in Albania. She is supremely professional and welcoming. The tour was a carefully planned itinerary to deliver a fantastic taste of the country in a short time - and make me want to come back for longer. On top of that she ensured high quality equipment was used and was very safety conscious. You are in great hands!

2. What's the food like, and can you cater for my dietary requirements?

Albanian food is hearty and healthy, usually based around meat and vegetables much of which is seasonal and sourced locally. Popular dishes include turkey or lamb served with a local bread known as Kulac. The guides cater to most dietary requirements - just let us know before you go.
