Day 1: Fly to Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer to Moshi

Take your international flight and be met by one of your local guides. From here you will be driven 45km to Moshi where you will be briefed by your head guide over dinner.

Day 2: Lemosho Glades to big tree camp (2780m)

You will be picked up at your hotel at around 08:00am and transferred to the Lemosho gate located on the western side of Kilimanjaro. After the registration process you will start the climb steadily through the forests of the Lemosho glades to reach Big Tree camp where you will be spending the night.

Day 3: Big tree camp to shira 2 camp (3900m)

Today you will cover a lot of ground as you trek across a plateau of grassy moorland with volcanic rock formations. As you proceed towards Shira 2 you will get the chance to view some of the glaciers on the western side of the mountain.

Day 4: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp (3972m)

On day four you reach the pinnacle of the Lava Tower (4640 m), your high point for the day and a great place to enjoy your lunch. In the afternoon you make a steep descent to our camp for the night, located in the base of the Great Barranco Valley (3960 m), sheltered by towering cliffs but with extensive views of the plains below.

Day 5: Barranco camp to Karranga (3963m)

Your day starts by descending into the Great Barranco, a huge ravine. You then scramble up the Great Barranco Wall - don't worry, your guides will help you take the easiest way up which avoids any rock climbing. Passing underneath the Heim and Kersten glaciers, you head towards the Karanga valley. From here you have a steep hike up from Karanga valley to our night’s camp at Karanga camp, set at 3963m.

Day 6: Karanga to Barafu Camp (4640m)

After a good night’s rest and breakfast, you set off on our walk to Barafu camp at 4640m. The climb will take us across desolate scree slopes. It’s a tough steep walk made more difficult by the altitude. On arriving at camp you will eat and spend the afternoon resting as you prepare for a long night and day ahead. You have an early dinner and then try to get some sleep as you will be getting up at between 11pm and 12pm to start the climb to the summit.

Day 7: Barafu Camp to Kilimanjaro Summit to Millenium Camp

Spectacular ice cliffs within the crater surround us and the views to jagged Mawenzi peak and beyond are breathtaking. Another hour’s walking takes you to the summit, known locally as Uhuru Peak (5895m). You begin your descent by returning to Stella Point and then descending on scree slope and track back to Barafu Camp for breakfast, before finally heading down to Millennium Camp for a long well-earned rest.

Day 8: Millenium Camp to Mweka Gate

A gentle trek takes you down through the rain forest to Mweka Gate, where you complete park formalities and receive certificates, which you can hang up with pride! You will then be met by your vehicles and return to the hotel in Moshi, where you can treat yourself to warm showers and a drink before your big celebration.

Day 9: Depart Kilimanjaro

The day is left free to rest and relax after a long, challenging week of trekking. You will be transferred to the airport to catch your morning flight back home.
