Day 1: Arrive in Stavanger

You will be picked up from Stavanger Airport at 6pm, and then driven to your cabin, which overlooks the Hølefjorden. After you have settled in, the guides will prepare a nice dinner for you and explain the details for the following day. This trip includes all food, accommodation, equipment and airport transfers.

Day 2: Kayaking the Lysefjord

After breakfast, you will head out for a full day of kayaking on the Lysefjord. For those that want to, you will have an opportunity to learn some skills along the way, before stopping for lunch. In the afternoon you will arrive back at your wild camp, with enough time to relax a little. There is also an option to go for a short walk and get a better view of the fjord. The evening will be spent around the campfire and under the stars. Sit back and relax, whilst your guides cook up a delicious dinner on the open fire. There are even a few beers for those who want!

Day 3: Hike above the Fjords to Pulpit Rock

Wake up in Norwegian paradise, whilst enjoying a nice cup of coffee over breakfast. This will prepare you for the day's hike up Pulpit Rock - the views are incredible! After enjoying views of the fjord from above, you will head back down to your campsite for dinner around the fire.

Day 4: Kayak to Bergsholmen before heading home

It's time to get back in the kayaks, for another breath-taking paddle, over to the island of Bergsholmen. Explore the waterfalls and incredible cliff faces, keeping an eye out for the seals on the way. You will arrive back at Stavanger airport by 4 pm for your flight home.

High quality and clean equipment, friendly and knowledgeable people, and a wonderful location. I thoroughly enjoyed sleeping out.
I'm not new to kayaking and wasn't expecting to learn much, and am pleased to say that it was quite the contrary! Rasmus was my instructor and his advanced yet simple kayaking tips really taught me a lot about how to manoeuvre a kayak more efficiently and with less energy. Now I have a lot of great techniques to practice to become better at kayaking! Rasmus had also brought his camera which was a pleasant surprise! Having a friendly and happy instructor really makes the trip all the more marry and I had a wonderful time!
I can definitely recommend these guys to anyone looking for an energizing and fun outdoor experience!

These guys know what they’re doing!
I went on one of their kayak trips in the Norwegian fjords and it was absolutely amazing! Rasmus and Thomas are really knowledgable and skilled guides and they really know what they’re doing. As opposed to other kayak guides, Rasmus actually taught us some valuable skills, instead of us just following him around... We saw some incredible nature and Rasmus taught us about certain vegetation for foraging.
Highly recommended!

1. What does the price include?

Included:

  • Guides
  • Airport transfers
  • Food
  • Accommodation
  • Specialist equipment (kayaks, tents, sleeping mats)

Excluded:

  • International flights
  • Sleeping bag
  • Appropriate clothing

2. What experience/fitness level do I need?

You don't need any kayaking experience to enjoy this adventure - the guides are great at making it enjoyable for all abilities.

You'll need a moderate level of fitness. The kayaking is 6 hours of relaxed paddling each day, with plenty of breaks along the way. The hike is quite steep to start, with a total altitude gain of 600m, and can be quite challenging when wet. Don't worry though, there is no rush to get to the top and you can take it at your own pace. The guides may also offer to take you on a shorter hike, but this is weather depending.

3. When is the airport pickup/drop-off?

You can be picked up at 4 pm or 6 pm from Stavanger Airport on the first date of your trip. You'll be dropped back for 4 pm on the last day.

If you can't make the pick-up, it's a 40-minute taxi ride to the start location, which can be relatively expensive in Norway.

4. How big are the groups?

The maximum size is 8 people.

5. Can I skip the hike?

You can stay at camp if you would rather relax for the day.

6. Can I book on my own?

Yes! Most people are solo travellers.

7. Can I store my luggage somewhere?

Yes - you can store luggage on the transport which will remain at the start/endpoint throughout the trip.

8. What is the food like?

The guides cook using local ingredients - often from around the fjord. Vegan/vegetarian options are available - if you want this please simply add it to your trip form (you can fill it in online once you've booked).

9. What kind of kayaks are used?

The kayaks used are double kayaks.

10. Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, and you can find discount codes on your Skyhook dashboard once you've booked.

11. What is the weather like?

Temperatures typically range from 15 - 22 C in the day. It can get quite cold at night so be sure to bring a few extra layers.

12. Will I need any spending money?

No, but there will be a few opportunities to buy local chocolate and coffee. The currency used is Norwegian Krone, and debit/credit cards are accepted almost universally.

13. What kit do I need to bring?

You will need comfortable sports clothing, as well as several layers (e.g. a fleece and warm jacket) and waterproofs.  A full packing list is available on your Skyhook dashboard once you've booked.

14. Do you offer a single supplement?

Single supplement is available for the camping nights only. Usually, two people will share a tent. If you want your own tent, then please let us know before you arrive. The cost is 750NOK / £75.

The cabin on the first night is dormitory-style, with warm showers and WiFi.

15. How do we keep our things dry?

We recommend bringing a dry bag if you need to keep any valuables dry (e.g. camera/phone) - you can find these affordably at stores such as AlpkitDecathlon or Cotswold, and some discount codes are available on your dashboard.

16. What is the minimum age for this trip?

The minimum age is 18, or 16 if accompanied by a parent/guardian.

17. Where do we stay on the first night?

A traditional Norwegian cabin on the side of the fjord - the address is Nodhagen Turistforeningshytte, 4303 Sandes, Norway.
