Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Slovakia!

We will meet you at the Krakow Airport on the first day at 4:00 PM and drive you to your hotel in the area of the Tatra mountains. This transfer takes 2.5-3 hours, depending on traffic. After you check-in, we will review the weekend's plan over a hearty dinner.

You will stay in a smaller guesthouse of 3* quality in one of the villages. The guesthouse we use can vary from trip to trip, so it may not be the same as pictured but all are equally lovely!

Day 2: Hiking the Belianske Tatras

Begin your day with a satisfying breakfast and set off on a picturesque hike all along the Belianske Tatras. Discover lesser-known trails and experience the unspoiled beauty of the area. Take a break by the stunning alpine lake Biele Pleso, bask in the sunlight, and admire the panoramic views of the rugged peaks around.

Hiking distance: 19km, 850m ascent and descent, 8 hours.

Day 3: Hike Sucha Bela and Prielom Hornadu Gorges

After breakfast, we'll take a short drive (about 30 mins) to Slovak Paradise National Park for an extraordinary experience in the gorges. The hike will take you along the bottom of Sucha Bela Gorge, one of the longest and most popular gorges in the park. You’ll walk through water, over fallen trees, climb ladders, and even pass through a window-like hole in the rock. Along the way, you’ll pass waterfalls, rock formations, pools and more.

Emerge from the gorge for lunch at a mountain hut, then continue your hike through Prielom Horndu Gorge. This hike is famous for its series of ledges and catwalks above the Hornad River.

Hiking distance: 16km, 700m ascent, 6 - 7 hours

Day 4: Hike to Predne Solisko Peak

This hike is the "cherry on top" of the weekend. You will get a great reward without much effort! You will reach the top of Predne Solisko peak (2,100m). However, to make your day more relaxed and enjoyable, you will take a chair lift to 1,800 meters. From here, it's a short hike up to the top of the peak, where you'll be treated to awe-inspiring views of the surrounding mountains.

You will get back to the Krakow Airport at around 4:00 PM. You can book your flights back home after 6:00 PM.

Hiking distance: 5km, 300m of ascent, 2,5 hours.

Your Guides
Martin

Since 2015, this team has been showing travellers the best of Slovakia. What began as the founder's dream during his university days has grown into a trusted adventure company that’s guided hundreds of visitors through the country’s mountains, valleys, and historic towns. At the heart of it is Martin, who first fell in love with sharing Slovakia while hosting exchange students as a teenager. Inspired to make his country better known, he built a blog that evolved into a guiding business. By 2015 he was welcoming the first international groups, soon expanding with the help of fellow guides to meet growing demand. Today, the guiding team includes professional UIMLA mountain leaders, and specialist hiking and history guides. Each brings their own expertise, but all share the same passion: helping travellers experience Slovakia authentically.

A fantastic hiking trip! Excellent communication beforehand, all hikes very well organised, briefed the evening before by our guide Patrik. Such a fantastic group of people of mixed ages - we shared many laughs & made great memories. Massive thanks to Patrik who was incredibly helpful and encouraging throughout. The views, the hikes and the experience was 10/10. Pushed me out of my comfort zone & I will look back fondly at this experience & would do another one in a heartbeat! Thank you Patrik & Martin for all the organisation you put into these tours.

This was a fantastic experience, Patrik was a great guide and the group were wonderful. We did 3 days of beautiful and varied walking. The hotel was good and catered for my vegetarian diet . The 2nd days walk was certainly challenging but felt supported. Thanks for a wonderful trip.

I enjoyed different challenges on different days. Climbing ladders, hiking in the riverbed and conquering the mountain peak—there were more moments like these. Thank you!

It was brilliant. The guided walks were fun and the guide Martin changed it around for us to escape bad weather. Martin looked well after us and was reassuring when people struggled with the challenging ladders and heights. The pension was clean and the staff lovely. Only minor niggle was that the showers didn't have a fixed showerhead or a shower head holder which made washing your hair a challenge. I will definitely come to Slovakia again.

My first trip with Skyhook and I am seriously impressed! So well-organised, all we had to do was get to the airport on time! It was a packed itinery so not a moment was wasted. Our guide Tom was fantastic - friendly, extremely knowledgeable, great fun and always happy to help. The weather turned bad so he seamlessly switched to plan B (and plan C!) making sure we didn't miss out on anything and we made the most of every minute. Slovakia really is a beautiful place and I would highly recommend this adventure. You will have aching legs though 😂

We had an amazing trip, even though the weather meant some changes to our plans. Day 1 was too wet for hiking but Tom our guide was brilliant and we visited caves, a castle, a choc shop then natural thermal pools. On day 2 we finally got into the mountains, the scenery was stunning- the landscape reminded me of Canada. Day 3 more rain but Tom adapted & took us to a beautiful waterfall. This was still a great experience & Tom was always so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The food & the rooms at the accommodation was excellent, even had a jacuzzi in the place! and our group was such a joy - so many laughs and great company! Despite the weather this was a fab trip and id highly recommend! Lets put Slovakia on the map for hiking. Might go back & do the snow addition.

It’s highly recommended that you take out personal travel insurance. Travel cover can protect you in the case of unforeseen circumstances, including cancellations, injuries, equipment loss, flight changes and other events that could negatively impact your trip. Note that standard insurance often doesn't cover adventure activities. We recommend using specialist adventure travel insurers, like [Rise & Shield](https://riseandshield.com/?ref=mdi5ywe), for your trip. Specialist insurers can cover unique scenarios, like trekking at altitude or emergency evacuation in hard-to-reach places, that ordinary travel insurance doesn’t cover. It's your responsibility to carefully check the details of your policy to ensure that you're covered for the specific activities you'll be carrying out.

On your trip

You will stay in a smaller guesthouse of 3* quality in one of the villages at the foot of the Tatra mountains for 3 nights. The rooms are spacious and recently refurbished. It has WIFI and a small wellness center with saunas and jacuzzi. The rooms don't provide toiletries and you need to bring your own. The guesthouse we use can vary from trip to trip, so it may not be the same as pictured but all are equally lovely!

Yes, on Day 3, when you head to the Slovak Paradise National Park. You can't be afraid of heights here as you will be climbing ladders, and walking on bridges and iron platforms several meters above water level.

Breakfast is usually buffet style with cold meats, cereals, eggs, sausages, fruit etc. For lunch, we stop at a local supermarket so you can buy and pack your lunch and eat what you like. For dinner, you can choose from 3 different meals. You can expect traditional meals, including chicken and pork meat with potatoes and rice. However, they can also cater to various diets if needed.

We will meet on the first day at the Krakow Airport in Poland at 4:00 PM. Our guide will wait simply in front of Arrivals with a Skyhook sign. On the last day, we will drop you off back at the Krakow Airport in Poland at around 4:00 PM.

Day 1: No hiking Day 2: 19km, 850m ascent and descent, 8 hours Day 3: 16km, 700m ascent, 6 - 7 hours Day 4: 5km, 300m of ascent, 2,5 hours

The currency in Slovakia is the Euro. You can pay with a card in most places. Cash is needed on 2 days when we take a break in mountain huts, which do not accept cards.

Sure, just let us know what kind of diet you have and the hotel will prepare meals according to your needs. You can indicate this on your trip form after booking or drop us a message.

You can leave your main luggage at the hotel while you're out hiking during the day. For the hikes, you’ll only need a day pack to carry your personal items.

June The mountains are lush and green, with wildflowers and long daylight hours. Temperatures are usually around 15–25°C. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are possible, and the highest peaks may still have some snow early in the month. July One of the warmest months, with valley temperatures often reaching 20–28°C. Most trails are snow-free, but afternoon thunderstorms are relatively common. It is also one of the busiest months. August Usually warm, green and ideal for hiking. Conditions are similar to July, although the weather can become slightly more stable later in the month. Thunderstorms are still possible, and popular trails can be busy. September Often considered one of the best hiking months. Temperatures are cooler, usually around 12–22°C, trails are quieter and the weather is often more stable. Autumn colours begin to appear, although cold mornings and the first light snow on the highest peaks are possible. October A quieter month with beautiful autumn colours and clear views. Temperatures are usually around 5–15°C in the valleys, with frost, strong winds and possible snow at higher elevations. Warm clothing and some flexibility with hiking routes are essential. Head Guide's take: October could be the best possible time if the customers are lucky to experience Indian summer with stable weather and warm temperatures.
