Mount Toubkal Expedition

This trek is a circular program combining berber villages and the high peaks of the Atlas Mountains, including Mt Toubkal.

Itinerary

Day 1: 20 oct 2024 / Arrival in Marrakech

Arrive in Marrakesh Menara Airport. Meet your Tour Guide.

Conduct pre-expedition checks and acclimatise

Accommodation in a hotel in Marrakech

Transport to Imlil (90 mins)

Conduct pre-expedition checks and acclimatize during an afternoon walk

Accommodation Riad Bab Imlil

Imlil (1740m) to Tacheddirt (2330m)

10.78 Km,1024 m ascent and 445 m descent, around 6 hours of steady walking.

stay in local house.

Trek To climb Tizi N-Tachdirte pass 3200m and return to Tachdirte in a day trip.

Stay in the same village and same guest house.

Around 6 hours of walking (Picnic lunch at the pass)

TREK FROM Tachdirte to Matat.

6 HOURS WALK. LUNCH ON THE MIDWAY.

NIGHT IN MATAT GUEST HOUSE

Trek to Tizi Oussem village in the Azzaden Cross Tizi Oudid 2100m.

4 HOURS WALK.

Night in local house.

Lunch in site and relax afternoon.

Trek from Tizi Oussem village towards Imlil. First we will pass through Tizi Mzik Pass and make an optional ascent to Tasghimoute Peak . Lunch on the way. arrive to Imlil in the afternoon. 6hours walk. stay in local house.

Trek from Imlil to Toubkal refuge. The hike will take around 6 hours. 11 Km

lunch break on the midway ( 2650m). Night in Dormetories.

MORNING SUMMIT DAY AND RELAXING AFTERNOON TREK DOWN TO ARMED.

Depart early morning to catch up the Sunrise The ascent will take 3-4 hours then another 2 hours back to the refuge. - Lunch break, short nap and trek down to Armed 3hours. Stay in Local house.

AFTER BREAKFAST, RETRACE BACK DWN TO IMLIL AND STAY IN GUEST HOUSE. Visit of the town and have final diner with moroccan army team in the guest house.

After breakfast, we will transfer you to MARRAKECH. 1H30 DRIVE

The guides will provide you with 1.5L of water each day. Water is also available from natural springs and at various village stores along the way. You may want to consider taking purification tablets with you for any spring water.

The weather will usually go from one extreme to another, with highs of 30°C in Marrakech and lows of around -10°C (with patches of snow) on the summit of Toubkal especially between Dec till end March. Winter season (Nov – Mar) Winter can be quite cold on Mt Toubkal, with temperatures on the summit going as low as -20 °C. March starts to warm up with a higher chance of rain. Early/late season (Apr– May & Oct) Temperatures at lower altitudes can reach 26°C, with little chance of rain. The summit can still go as low as -10°C with wind chill. Summer (Jun – Sep) June has a higher chance of rain, but still stays warm. July to Sept are the hottest months with temperatures at the lowest altitudes reaching 30 °C. The summit of Toubkal can be as low as -10°C with wind chill.
