Itinerary

Day 1: Moshi/Arusha to Tarangire National Park

In the morning, you'll be collected from your hotel in Moshi/Arusha and make the journey to Tarangire National Park - known for its huge baobab trees and large herds of elephants. Its sparse vegetation makes it a beautiful location, where up to 300 elephants can be found, looking for underground streams in the dry riverbeds. Migratory wildebeest, zebra and buffalo can also be seen crowding the shrinking lagoons. Here you will enjoy an afternoon game drive with a picnic lunch. In the evening, you'll head to the outskirts of Tarangire National Park to your accommodation.

Today you'll head over to one of the most famous game parks in the world - the Serengeti! Known to host one of the most amazing wildlife spectacles on earth with the great migration of wildebeest and zebra. The Serengeti’s vast plains are also home to a haven of other wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, leopards and many other predators.

This morning, you’ll catch a glimpse of lions and other predators on their morning hunt during your first game drive. You'll have the whole day to enjoy a game-drive in central Serengeti.

Today you’ll rise early in the morning and make your way into the Ngorongoro crater - one of Africa's seven natural wonders! Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is considered one of the most beautiful and unique places in Africa. Here you'll find a haven of African wildlife, and you might also be lucky enough to witness the endangered Rhino!

In the morning, you'll head over to Lake Manyara National Park, which is located within the Great Rift Valley. Lake Manyara boasts a spectacular setting, famous for its tree-climbing lions and soda-ash lake. The park also provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. The shores of the lake, encrusted with pink flamingo and attracts more than 400 species of birds. In the afternoon, you'll be transferred back to Moshi/Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport.

You will stay in tented camps. Due to the nature of the environment you are in, you are advised not to leave your camp at night, without notifying a member of staff via a walkie-talkie.

You can upgrade to lodge accommodation for $663 per person. This can be paid in cash or card upon arrival. Please note: if paying by card, then you may incur a 5% service charge. 

The safari is family-friendly, with a minimum age of 6.  

You will be travelling with experienced and qualified guides, and this safari is safe. However, it is important to abide by the rules set by the National Park and always follow the advice of your guides.  

Start: You will be collected from your hotel in Moshi at 06:30 am or your hotel in Arusha at 9 am on day 1 of your itinerary.

End: You will be dropped off in Moshi at 8 pm, or Arusha at 5 pm on day 6 of your itinerary.   

It can be generally hot during the day, so sunhats, suncream, sunglasses are recommended. In the morning and evenings it can be a little cooler, so pack a sweater, fleece or jacket.

You may want to bring a small amount of money for tips and any souvenirs.  

If you are doing the Machame route with Skyhook, then you can go on safari at any time on day 8 of your Kilimanjaro itinerary. This works perfectly, as you will be back in your hotel in Moshi, in the evening of day 7 of your trek.

If you are doing the Lemosho route with Skyhook, then you can go on safari from day 9 of your Kilimanjaro itinerary. This works perfectly, as you will be back in your hotel in Moshi, in the evening of day 8 of your trek.  

Yes, just make sure you put your dietary requirements on your registration form which can be found at 'My Dashboard' on your Skyhook account.
