Thank you Simon and Damien, for arranging the four-days hike/tour to The Lost City in Santa Marta area. You were able to inform us from beginning to end. All our personal requests and expectations were met! From the first moment to the last we enjoyed everything. Great organisation and cooperation between all. Certified guide Pedro and translator were really professional and super friendly. The hike itself was often tough but Pedro (and translator) supported us every time. We had a small group with nice atmosphere. Good laughs and good cooperation between all. The food was super tasty and fresh. They even took into account our vegetarian diet. Skyhook Adventure and Kagumu Adventures are highly recommended organisations with huge love and respect for the local area and communities! It was a unique trip, one never to forget. Thanks for the bag of local Santa Marta Colombian coffee! We will enjoy a cup of coffee at home. Thanks for creating the base of such wonderful memories! Katrien & Jan from Belgium

Yes, this is part of the adventure so we advise you to pack light and pack well. We will give you a complete packing list before the start of the trek and you can always leave your main bag in your hotel during the trek. If for whatever reason you are unable to carry your backpack along the trail we will make provisions for this.

Daily walks will last between 4 and 8 hours. We will set off early every morning so you have plenty of time to relax in your camp and enjoy time swimming in the natural pools and rivers.

We offer a wide range of food options local to the Caribbean area and Colombia in general. You will enjoy hearty breakfasts with eggs, arepa (cornbread), lots of fruit, and of course Colombian coffee. Lunch and dinner will vary day to day and will range from fish with vegetables to pasta and grilled chicken with rice and beans. All your meals will be prepared by local cooks, travelling with you along the way. We can adjust the food options to any requirements or allergies you may have.

The trek starts at 150 meters above sea level and reaches 1200 meters. The highest point is actually the Lost City itself.

While in Santa Marta, you will stay in a comfortable hotel located in the historical center. Santa Marta’s climate is tropical and can hit 31 degrees °C during the day. The dry season is usually January to April where conditions will be humid with the occasional shower in the late afternoon/evening.

Of course there are no ATMs on the trek. Although everything is covered in the price, bringing extra money for extra snacks, tips and any handicrafts you may want to but would be useful. Anything between 50 and 80 USD should be enough.

For the Lost City trek, you can leave your big suitcases in the hotel before the trek and collect them afterward. You will need to take your own small backpack on the Lost City Trek so pack well! You will be revisiting a couple of camps on the way so you can leave any dirty clothes and pick them up on the return journey.
