After breakfast, you'll head over to Baba Mountain.

At just over 2,600m of altitude, the peak stands alone on the border with Greece. It's this high prominence, that gives the mountain regular helpings of fresh powdery snow.

There's a great range of routes suitable for all abilities - from a huge bowl for easier runs, to steep chutes for the more adventurous. The guides will help choose routes suitable for the group. For lunch and whenever you want a break, we also use the Shiroka mountain hut, which at 1,950m of altitude has great views over the national park.

You'll start at Pistenbully (close to the hotel), from where we drive for about an hour in the snowcat through the Pelister National Park.

Depending on abilities and where the best snow is, your guides will pick out some great new routes for the day. This can include skiing through the pine forests at Antena, or heading back up to the summit of Baba mountain.

On day 4 we'll drive across the border into Greece, and start with a morning of skiing in the Kajmaktzalan resort. It's a tiny resort with just over 10 routes, and has a very local feel.

In the afternoon we'll then head to the hot springs in Loutraki to relax and recover.

FAQs

You'll need a good level of fitness, and have some experience already on skis or a snowboard (able to ski a red run). You don't need any off-piste experience.

Skis/Snowboard

You do need to bring your own skis/snowboard, boots, goggles and helmet. The skis must be suitable for off piste (ideally over 90mm wide in the middle), but don't need special bidinings/boots (regular downhill skis are fine). All snowboards will work, but having a specialised off-piste board can be nice.

If you don't have these, you'll need to rent them before you fly - there are several companies that provide this service such as the Ski Shop in the UK.

Clothing

For clothing, normal ski cloathing works well - make sure to have lots of layers with thermals, a fleece and ski jacket/trousers.

We also highly recommend bringing two pairs of mitts/gloves, in case you drop one pair.

All the the food served is based around the local Macedonian cuisine. It's fresh, tasty, hearty mountain food, and quite different to the more touristy options in the area. Meat based & vegetarian meals are available. We also recommend trying the local rakija shot after dinner, which is an acquired taste!

You'll stay in the Sumski Feneri 3-star hotel .
