The Bulgarian Peaks Trip, is a magnificent initiation to the unspoiled nature of Rila and Pirin mountain ranges. Also, is an exeptional combination of high altitude hiking and Balkan culture in one of the most virgin areas of Europe. After you will picked up from Thessaloniki airport, a magnificent 4 days hiking trip begins from north towards south.

Itinerary

Day 1: Thessaloniki to Borovets resort

Meeting at Thessaloniki and pick up the guests in single time appointment (14:00 afternoon).

After we will cross the Greek - Bulgarian borders we will move towards north aiming for Borovets village at the foot hills of Mount Rila.

Settlement in a hotel and overnight in Borovets .

Day 2: Climbing Mussala Peak 2.925m - Highest in the Balkans

After breakfast we will take the gondola lift, towards the Yasterbets Peak.

Through alpine lakes and granite rocky needles we will reach the final crest to the Mussala peak 2.925m

The view is breathtaking and in a clear sky day it's possible to see almost the Aegean Sea.

Down hike to the gondola station and return to the village.

Overnight at Borovets village

Duration : 7-8 hrs

Vertical ascent : 800m

Day 3: Climbing Mount Malyovitsa 2.735m

After breakfast we will transferred to Malyovista valley, the most alpine and isolated valley of Mount Rila.

The well marked trail will give us access to the final crest and the Malyovitsa Peak 2.735m

Down hike to the valley early the same after noon.

Duration : 8 hrs

Vertical ascent : 1.100m

Transfered to the Bulgarian south and settlement at Bankso town

Overnight in Bansko

Day 4: Climbing Mount Vihren 2.914m

After breakfast, transfer towards the Vihren Hut and start our hike.

A steep but magnificent trail will lead us to the impressive marble cone of Vihren Peak.

Duration : 6 - 7 hrs

Vertical ascent : 1000m

Late afternoon return to Bankso town. Short break in town for rest and transfer to Thessaloniki city.

A licensed member of the Hellenic Mountain Guides Association and a qualified instructor in mountaineering, ski touring, and climbing, he brings a genuine love for the mountains to every adventure. Akis' guiding experience spans beyond Greece to routes across the Alps in France, Switzerland, Italy, and Bulgaria. Yet his heart and home remain at the foot of Mount Olympus, where dramatic valleys, high ridges, and mythical trails form the perfect outdoor playground. Alongside guiding, Akis teaches mountaineering and climbing at schools and associations throughout Greece, and spends much of the winter as a ski instructor. Together, Akis and his team live to share the beauty of Greece’s mountains and make each experience accessible and safe.
