Itinerary

Day 1: Morfa Nefyn

You'll meet your guide at Morfa Nefyn National Trust Car Park, where you'll start your kayak adventure.

The calm waters of this bay offer a perfect opportunity to learn some basic skills. In the evening you'll head over to your campsite on the Llyn Peninsula, which provides a perfect base right on the coastline.

Day 2: Traeth Porthor - Penrallt Cove

After a hearty breakfast, you'll paddle over to Whistling Sands - famous for its squeaking and musical sand as you walk along it. You'll then paddle along the remote bays of the Lyn Peninsula, which make for a perfect spot for a picnic lunch - often only accessible from the sea. At Pete's Cove, you can enjoy some refreshments, before heading to your camp off the shores of Porth Ysgaden. In the evening, you'll head down to the beach for a BBQ around the fire.

Day 3: Porth Ysgaden - Porth Oer

Enjoy the sound of the singing seals, as you wake at sunrise for a tranquil paddle along the Peninsula. There will be an opportunity to stop off for tea and freshly baked cakes along the way, before passing the seals at Porthdinllaen. In the evening you'll stop off at Ty Coch Pub on the beach. There's even an opportunity for a night swim for those feeling up to it.

The final part of your journey takes you along the north coast of the Llyn Peninsula, in the shadows of Snowdon. The guide will show you all the best places to see seals, sea birds and maybe even a dolphin or two. You'll paddle past the famous Trefor Sea Stacks which boasts impressive cliffs and caves to explore. The guide can drop you back off at Bangor train station by 6 pm for those who wish to depart back home.

This is an absolutely brilliant trip! I’m not an experienced kayaker but had a great time, learned a lot and will definitely be on the water again soon. Due to the difficult weather, the itinerary did change, but in no way did I feel like we’ve missed out. Each day was a new adventure, with something new to experience. The landscape and wildlife are just stunning, especially the seals. Billy, Chris, and Pete are excellent guides and I always felt safe. Each day was planned to make the best of the weather (which was challenging for July!) and recognised the abilities of everyone in the group. The campsite is great and in a fabulous quiet location with awesome sunset opportunities. Food was excellent and plentiful, and it was great to have the safe base of the awning of Billy’s caravan to get out of the weather. Can’t recommend this trip highly enough. Thanks guys.

This was our second trip with Skyhook and it did not disappoint. Our guides Billy, Dave and the team were excellent, not only on the water but also at the campsite, bags of good food, continuous laughs and giggles, safe and well planed paddles, these guys really know their stuff. With rock hopping, wave catching and open sea runs, plus scenery and wildlife in abudance, it was just fantastic. An amazing experience with great people, we were sad to leave. We would highly recommend.

I took my own camping kit so I can't comment on what they provided. The safety equipment and kayaks that were provided were excellent. The whole event was fantastic. The instructors Billy and Dave were brilliant. Billy looked after us all on the campsite. Tea and coffee brought to the tents first thing as a wake up call before embarking to Billy's caravan (with awning thankfully) for a fully cooked breakfast. The evening meals were fresh varied and and he catered for all our curious needs - some meat eaters, others pescatarian, others full on awkward veggies! Everyone was totally satisfied with the food and there was lots. Regarding the water-based leadership, this was provided by Dave (and his partner) he was also thorough, spot on and very safety conscious as he should be. We were taken to different parts each day and collected at the destination. No issues there whatsoever. On the final day the weather was good and the sea was choppy but Phil and I were taken out and that was awesome! Both Billy and Dave were very receptive to our desires and preferences in terms of the days activities and breakfast, lunch and evening food. They went out of their way to make sure that we were happy. Would I go again with these guys? ABSOLUTELY. Would I recommend them to others? Absolutely and have already passed the details to others. Well done and thank you for a fantastic experience.

From the very first day we were greated with smiles & enthusiasm from our superb guides Billy & Dave. After a lovely sunny first day on the Lake we moved on to our first night at our campsite which was our home for the next 3 nights. Even though the campsite was in a dramatic and lovely location to watch the sun set over the sea there was no near by beach or cove you could get down to for a morning swim which I had expected. The tents we were given were only basic pole tents that had been well used and dirty inside which I had assumed to be more of a canvas style army tent that would already be erected ready for us to move in, not an dirty old pole tent that I had to errect myself with no instructions in what could have been awful weather conditions, so not a great start. The site was very basic and a simple small farm barn conversion with a couple of dirty shower rooms to try and get clean in, though the showers themselves were very good, mira sport electric showers that took 20p for 4 to 6mins depending on which one you used. With the site being so basic there was no communal space to get together although Billy did have an enclosed awning attached to his caravan where we would spend our mornings for breakfast and evening meals. Even with a group of 5 it was a tight squeeze to get us all in if we all wanted to eat in the shelter of Dave's awning. I was very impressed with all of our food and Billy's cooking for the whole group!! Billy managed to cater for all of our differing needs in such a thoughtful and tasty manner. Freshly made hot meals in the evenings were a winner, from veg & chicken stir fry to Thai curry then American style quality burgers for the bbq, we did feast until popping out of our wetsuits 🤣 We did miss out on a bbq on the beach though that was on the itinerary however I think the weather was a little overcast to make this possible. We all enjoyed the kayak adventures and for me the hi-light was deffinetly the school of Seals we came across who enjoyed nothing more than Bob up to look at us as we paddled around them, in total about 13 or so came to greet us, i was memorised by them. I did expect to be taken into a sea cave or two but this never happened in our tour so unsure if there are any on this coastline but it would have added a much needed interest within the tour. All in all i had a great time, I could not fault the guides, Dave was excellent and very attentive just the quality of camping facilities let it down a little and maybe added points of interest on the coastline would have made the trip more epic, so these are the reasons I give 3 stars overall to this particular tour.........

Really enjoyed this holiday. The first day was a taster session on a beautiful lake in glorious sunshine. I actually thought if this is what the rest of the week was going to be like , it would be boring, I have kayaked lots and am a 59 year old female! LOL Kayaking in the sea in force 5-6 was fantastic and energising, not for the faint hearted by any means. There were 5 of us in total who all got on and had a laugh. The campsite was near the cliff edge so had a steady wind, the site was well laid out although the toilets and showers were in an eccentric building with plastic covering a hole in the roof. The tents were of good quality, clean and dry . However make sure you have warm bedding, I remember waking for my hat as it was cold one night . We went in May. The kayaking equipment was of good quality clean and dry. Leader Billy and Dave were great people with a laid back attitude which made the holiday relaxing. The food was good and plenty of it throughout the day. The Welsh coast is beautiful and it was great to be followed by the seals, who took great interest in us. It was hard work paddling at times but I slept very well because of it. I have just finished my second holiday canoeing in Scotland with Leader Billy, which again was fantastic. Looking forward to what next year brings.
