Via ferrata is a perfect blend of hiking and climbing! If you've got a good level of fitness, it's a great way to try fixed cable-way routes and summit Slovenia's highest mountain!

This trip is led by Anita and the guiding team in Slovenia.

Day 3: Summit Mt. Triglav (2,864m)

After breakfast, you'll get started with a climbing part of the via ferrata section. This is a 400 m-long section of safety cables. Equipped with a harness and gear, you will clip onto the cables to climb up the rock. Don't worry but have in mind that it's a climb and the guides are fantastic at making you feel confident and safe!

Shortly after completing the via ferrata section, you'll reach the summit of Slovenia's highest mountain, with its incredible panoramic views. After some time for photos, you'll head back down first to the hut and then back to the valley and be driven back to Bled. You can choose to stay longer in Bled or we'll drop you at the bus station which runs local transfers until 7 pm.

Under the leadership of Kofler sport and their two guides (Igor and Boštjan), we set off and successfully conquered the Slovenian route in the Triglav wall. The guide is professional, friendly and with a lot of feeling. Igor knew the direction down to the details, which gave us a lot of confidence and certainty that we were really in the best hands. All praise and definitely a recommendation if you are deciding on such a venture.

A fantastic trip. Anita and Franz were great guides. I learnt a lot about the surrounding area of the Julian Alps and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I look forward to going back to Slovenia to see a bit more

I went up the north face of Triglav, Slovenian direction. Andraž was an excellent guide: professional, communicative, takes wishes into account, adapts the tour to the conditions. Slovenian direction is a great tour for beginners in climbing, just as challenging with possibilities of adjusting the difficulty. I definitely recommend going with a mountain guide. Kofler sport will organise everything and lend you the equipment.

FAQs

Before you go

Please see the INCLUSIONS & EXCLUSIONS section above.

The hike is of moderate difficulty, suitable for reasonably fit hikers comfortable walking for up to 8 hours a day. No previous via ferrata experience is required.

The minimum age is 18, or 16 if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

We recommend the following basic gear; - suitable mountaineering clothing (At least 4 layers of clothing) - hiking tops - mountaineering pants and spare pants, - wind jacket - sunhat/ cap - warm beanie - gloves - backpack (at least 35 l) - hiking boots - personal first aid kit (any meds you need) - sunglasses - sunscreen

It’s highly recommended you take out personal travel insurance. Travel cover protects you in the case of unforeseen circumstances including cancellations, injuries, equipment loss, flight changes and other events that could negatively impact your trip. We suggest specialist adventure travel insurers, [Rise & Shield](https://riseandshield.com/). They cover 100s of activities and are easy to deal with if you need to make a claim. They also cover unique scenarios, like trekking at altitude or emergency evacuation in hard-to-reach places, that ordinary travel insurance doesn’t cover.

On your trip

Day 1: No hiking Day 2: Start altitude: 980m End altitude: 2515m Time: 5 - 7 hours Day 3 Start altitude: 2515m Max altitude: 2864m End altitude: 980m Time: 8 - 9 hours

Generally, we take small groups of 3-4 people with one guide. Sometimes we can accommodate bigger groups but it depends on availability of extra guides as well as space in vehicles and accomodation

Day 1- guests arrive in Bled on their own. You can arrive at the hostel anytime before 9pm. Day 2 (10 August) - The guide usually picks up guests around 6 a.m., or 7 a.m. - depending on the weather prognosis. Day 3: On the final day, you will be dropped back in Bled or the bus station. Local buses run to the airport and other destinations until 7 pm. The time we get back to Bled depends on whether we summit on Day 2 already or on Day 3. Note: Summit day depends on the weather. In case the weather is better on Day 2 (the first day of the ascent), the group will approach to the hut in the afternoon and after a break, continue to the summit. We'd then return and sleep and trek down the next morning after breakfast. If the weather on Day 3 is looking better to summit, we start a bit later on Day 2 and only hike up to the hut.

The Mount Triglav climbing season is from July through October, though early- and late-season ascents are also possible. Summer weather on Triglav is quite cool; when it's pushing 30°C at lower altitudes, it may be just 10°C on Triglav summit. It often drops below freezing at night so don't forget to pack warm clothes Weather on the mountain is highly variable, bringing unexpected wind, rain and snow.

Unfortunately, although the success rate for Mount Triglav is very high, we can't guarantee summit success on every trip. Weather conditions, personal health and other circumstances may mean it's necessary for an individual or group to turn back. It is at the guides discretion to make a call and implement any itinerary changes as seen fit.
