Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Cornish Wave HQ & Night 1

You will meet your hosts, guides and other adventurers on your weekend at our HQ bang in the centre of Newquay at 6pm. Once the warm welcomes and introductions have been made, you'll drive in convoy to our Wild Camp, a 10 min drive from the town. If you are arriving by public transport, let us know and we can help arrange a lift with the instructors or other adventurers! You then have the rest of the evening to become accustomed to camp living and to get to know the others on your weekend.

Day 2: Surfing, Yoga & Night 2

After a camp breakfast and a cuppa! You will head back into Newquay for a day filled with activities.

You'll meet the guide at the surf shop right on the beachfront, before heading out for your first surf lesson. If it’s your first time you'll learn the skills to feel confident enough to surf in the future on your own accord. For those that want a little bit more, the guides can accommodate that too.

You'll then have some time to enjoy the town, explore the beaches, shops and of course eat at one of the many many places that Newquay has to offer

Later in the afternoon, you'll head over to your luxury wild camp in the woodlands. It's here that you'll enjoy some yoga, a few drinks and some good food around the camp fire.

Day 3: Early morning Yoga and Surf

You'll start the day off with a light breakfast in the hammocks, before heading off for your morning yoga session in the open barn. The focus of the session is to awaken your body and recharge the muscles for your next surf lesson.

All stretched out and ready for the day, its back to Newquay for the final surf of the weekend. Recapping on the previous day's lesson and capitalising on existing skills, the aim for the day is both progressions and simply having fun in the surf.

Just Wow!!! I have just returned from the 'Surf, Yoga and Luxury Wild Camp' weekend. What a magical weekend!!! All of the staff and instructors at Cornish Wave are friendly, welcoming, approachable and really make you feel at home and valued. The wild camp is beautiful! There are spacious tents, kitchen and bbq area, camp-fire, yoga barn and a gorgeous pond. I was at 6:30 each morning as the sun came up over the horizon, it was spectacular! The showers are the nicest I have had on any campsite! There is also entertainment around for free use: kayak, paddle-board, peddleos, limbo, Jenga, axe-throwing and tight-rope walking! When there was a heavy winds, we were offered to change our tens, no fuss or judgement. Thank you Jey for an incredible setting and camp experience and Matt for being a fun host. The surf session was fantastic with two very fun and laid-back, but very knowledgeable instructors. Every-one who wanted to stand was able to and those who did not, were offered expert advice around how to get the best wave surf in prone. One the second day, rather than stick to the plan rigidly and go for a surf in flat conditions (there were other schools out), Matt worked with those of us on the camp to find a more enjoyable and engaging solution (we went coasteering, which was amazing!!!). This was accompanied by the second surf instructor as our cameraman, resulting in us having amazing footage to look back on. Thank you to Matt and Connor for these excellent experiences. Yoga for our sessions was led by Zoe, and the best Yoga sessions I have ever had. Relaxed, but challenging, great music choices to accompany and a wonderful woodland setting. The second day, we did the session outside beside the pond rather than in the yoga barn. Listening to the wind and feeling the still rising sun as part of the relaxation was magical. Coasteering was amazing and everyone felt judgement free to choose how much they did or did not do in terms of jumps, the coast was spectacular. The previous day, they had explored lots of caves too. The social time was a lot of fun and everyone was relaxed to mingle. Some people were in groups of two friends and some single on the weekend I experienced, but everyone was included, laughing together and feeling great! I cannot recommend Cornish Wave enough, whether you are a lone adventurer, family, friends or a larger group. All of their activities were outstanding and the wild camp beautiful. Thank you everyone at Cornish Wave!

Stayed with Cornish Wave 24th-26th May, I had a great time, lots of fun. Jey and Jake are very easy to get along with. I only wish I had booked a little longer for the surfing.

Excellent trip. Jake was organised, friendly and knowledgable. He helped my surfing improve and made our trip great fun. Site was lovely and I would do it again. Although not leading our group, Willow was also friendly and helpful. I'd not done yoga before and the setting was superb. All the groups there were friendly and I had a great weekend. Looking forward to coming again. Thanks

Absolutely fantastic weekend in Cornwall. The campsite is gorgeous and the facilities are really good. Our guides Victor and Willow could not be more helpful and made the trip really fun. Victor was an excellent surf instructor and Aimee's yoga classes were peaceful and serene - just what you needed after surfing.

Surf and Yoga camp 🏕️ Solo. Absolutely loved very minute - 5 star all round! Everything was so well organised with great communication. Facilities were fantastic; so nicely designed with a rustic charm. The instructors and staff were utterly brilliant, at camp and in store. Jake our surf instructor was awesome - so encouraging, such a laugh and catered to all our abilities. He made us all feel so welcome and well looked after in camp 🤙🏻 Aimee’s yoga was the perfect compliment to surfing, with her choice of flow to suit us all, down to her invaluable words of wisdom and kindness. She brought such a warmth - well and truly one of the girls 🙏🏼 Just to add to the adventure it’s defo worth trying Coasteering! Scaling rocks and leaping off was so heart wrenching but really fun!! Matt was super chilled out, fun and let you choose your comfort level :) Was blessed to meet the loveliest group of women to share the weekend with - strangers who became friends. Couldn’t have wished for a better birthday - being sang to in the sea, giggling over cake by the fire and having adrenaline highs - huge thank you! ❤️

I booked onto the surf, yoga and wild camping weekend with Cornish Wave last minute as a solo female traveller and had absolutely no idea what to expect given I've never surfed or done yoga before, but I had the best time! The wild camping was an experience in itself (my first time using a compostable toilet!) and the campsite was so peaceful and really well equipped. Surfing was great fun, and our instructors (Matt and Jake) were really friendly, helpful and patient. Aimee was also a brilliant yoga instructor and it was really something quite special to do yoga in the woods in the yoga shala. I had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this weekend break to anyone.

Thanks to Adam, Jake, Victor and Zoe for an incredible weekend that exceeded expectations. The campsite is a short drive out of Newquay in a secluded valley next to a lake, which was great for an early morning swim. It was great getting back to doing some surfing and can recommend Cornish Waves. All the instructors were great, good quality equipment and their shop is only a short walk to Fistral Beach. I will definitely be coming back! The yoga sessions were really great complement to the surfing and great to be surrounded by nature.

FAQs

Before you go

See the inclusions & exclusions section above.

Nope. This weekend is perfect for those who have never surfed or taken part in any yoga previously. Whatever the session the guides will break it all down into easy to understand bite sized bits.

Your guide will provide you with: - Surfboard - Wetsuits - Tents - Air beds - Yoga mats You'll need to bring: - Swimwear - Shoes for the beach - Towel for beach and showers - Flip flops - Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunblock) - 1 litre of water per person/ a full reusable water bottle - Rain jacket - Leggings, trousers or shorts suitable for yoga - Spare warm clothing and a hat - Sleeping bag, warm hat, torch - Suitable footwear for a night in the outdoors (the farm entrance can be very muddy: wellies can be hired on-site) - Toiletries, toothbrush and toothpaste - BBQ food and drinks for dinner (this can all be picked up after your surf session from the supermarket across the road)

It’s highly recommended that you take out personal travel insurance. Travel cover can protect you in the case of unforeseen circumstances, including cancellations, injuries, equipment loss, flight changes and other events that could negatively impact your trip. Note that standard insurance often doesn't cover adventure activities. We recommend using specialist adventure travel insurers, like [Rise & Shield](https://riseandshield.com/), for your trip. Specialist insurers can cover unique scenarios, like trekking at altitude or emergency evacuation in hard-to-reach places, that ordinary travel insurance doesn’t cover. It's your responsibility to carefully check the details of your policy to ensure that you're covered for the specific activities you'll be carrying out.

On your trip

You’ll wildcamp on untouched private land 11 miles outside Newquay. Bell tents are arranged in a tranquil woodland connected by festive banners and twinkle lights. Each bell tent sleeps 4 people. Air mattresses are provided: all you have to bring is a sleeping bag. There’s a composting toilet onsite, gas showers, and fresh water is provided for washing up, but otherwise you’ll be without facilities in the peaceful countryside. If people really do want their own tent we can arrange this. The single supplement is £50. Please message your host after booking to arrange.

Newquay has a range of restaurants for any budget, as well as a supermarket across the street from the surf shop. You'll need to buy ingredients for dinner at the camp, simple is best as you will be BBQ’ing and cooking over the camps open fire. Your host will provide you with a basic breakfast of cereals and fruits on Day 2 and 3. This should be enough to keep you going until lunch. But if you're an extra hungry morning person, please bring some extra snacks along. Given the diversity of food available in town, all diets can be accommodated, including vegetarian and vegan.

Start: You'll meet your guide in Newquay at 6:00 PM on day 1 (Friday) of your itinerary. The address is 40 Fore Street, Newquay, Cornwall, TR7 1LP.  End: Your trip will end at 1:00 PM on day 3 (Sunday) of your itinerary in Newquay.

Nestled in the woodland campsite, the open sided barn provides a perfect setting for yoga.
