Fantastic experience, i loved it. Everything very well organised with no hick-ups whatsoever. Routes were well chosen and also diverse - each day a new scenery that took our breaths away. Our guide was experienced and the refuges/hotels were comfortable. One last thing is to be lucky with the group mates and then making new friends is inevitable ! A refaire !! Eva

Extremely dissapointed. I reserved trip before covid first time. I have already flight tickets and they canceled it. I understood, life can be tough. I reserved second time, this time I have funeral in family so I couldnt go. I asked them to postpone ( or to find some solution, f.e. some credit for next trip). Asnwer was that it is solely my problem and they can not do anything. I will never order again skyhook.

What a fabulous trip!!!! Four days hiking in this terrain left us with such a great appreciation for the Mont Blanc area! Excellent trip. Not so demanding that it became an endurance test but still challenging and very satisfying. The scenery was stunning and everything well organised. The pit stops during the day were all excellent. The accommodation started out on a pretty basic level. On night 1 it was a dormitory for about 14, timed showers that needed a token to use and breakfast with plastic bowls but it became less basic thereafter. Our guide, christelle was really brilliant. She was very knowledgeable and very likeable and made sure everybody in the group felt included. Couldn’t fault her at all. A great trip.

Tour Du Mont Blanc with Christel was the best experience. Wow, where did you find her!! I have had the pleasure to meet fantastic guides through walking but her attention to detail and the way she supported me all way up was exemplary. I am so glad I went and I will be booking again. The accommodation was fantastic too. Just one point to note, I think it would be good to detail that it is not for a beginner and that a lot of pre-training has to go into it before you start. Thank you Skyhook and for all your support through COVID times and the many date changes!!

Excellent five days with a great group of people. The trip was challenging enough to feel like a real achievement but not out of reach for anyone with reasonable fitness, a bit of determination and a sense of humour and adventure. The equipment was fit for purpose and any issues quickly put right. This isn’t a luxury glamping holiday and you should be prepared to muck in and work as a team. The food is great and plentiful and we quickly grew to love the snack barrel! Chucky and Lizzie were brilliant, knowledgeable guides and focused on making sure everyone got what they wanted out of the trip. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and am looking forward to future trips with these people.

Our trip to the High Atlas Mountains was a superb experience thanks to the Atlas vertical team, in collaboration with Sky hook. Our accommodation was an ideal start and finish to the trek, with a roof top terrace giving great views of Imil and the first stages of the trek. Our guide, Lachine was amazing, having the ablility to adapt the pace for us perfectly, gaging our experience, fitness and vision to ensure we had the best experience possible including a perfectly timed summit approach, arriving at the top of Toubkal 10 minutes before sunrise. The result was a clear summit (we were the first up that day 😄) and some spectacular views. We were looked after extremely well from start to finish and I would like to thank our guide, mule handler and Riad host, also to skyhook for their professional approach and for providing a a very reasonably priced package and value for money summit attempt of Mt Toubkal. We will be back!

At first I was a little apprehensive, travelling as a solo is always a little daunting and as the driver at Geneva airport appeared to be working to different instructions and timings, it became quite clear that there is confusion on some of the literature published on the Skyhook website. We then met Ben, our guide, at Vert Lodge and my fears immediately eased. Ben was really helpful and clearly knowledgeable, ensuring we were correctly packed and prepared for our days ahead. Due to the delays at the Mont Blanc tunnel the journey was a little tedious but we used that time as an opportunity to get to know each other I think the guide makes the trip a success or a failure and Ben certainly made the trip a huge success, he is professional, warm, friendly, caring, supportive and has a real skill of ensuring everyone was enjoying their own personal experience as well as creating a fantastic team spirit, not easy to do from a leadership perspective, we learnt lots too! Ben gave those that wanted a challenge the opportunity and also supported everyone in the team when the going got tough, we had a day of cold, wet weather and we were able to dig deep and arrive at our destination wet and cold but still smiling and loving our experience. I met some truly lovely people and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Andrea July ‘22

The 3 peaks was well prepared. At the end of each peaks there's bathrooms for people to use. Because it's a challenge for 24hours it requires a fast pace and for that the people should be prepared otherwise you either delay the group or keep going back to the van. Safety is considered all the time and the guide was very helpful and always honest about everything. I loved the experience although I didnt manage to complete it. Maybe another time.

Excellent experience with awesome guide Paddy. It was just a pity that one of the folks did not have the right level of fitness. So Paddy had to stay with the individual and other folks had to wait for a long time at multiple occasions. Skyhook should make it more clear that the trip is demanding and require a good level of fitness. The two refuges in Switzerland were really good but the quality and friendliness in Rifugio Bonatti were disappointing. Overall a trip where I made new friends and will stick for a long time on my ‘hard drive’. The international composition of the group was a real enrichment. Maybe next year I’ll take a new trip !

The ‘Tour du Mont Blanc’ was a marvelous experience. We enjoyed the scenery, the folks in the group and the guide Paddy who did an excellent job. Unfortunately one member of the group didn’t have a good physical condition and was not able to keep up with the pace of the others. Our guide had to stay with this individual all the time. As a result, the other members of the group had to wait multiple times for 1-2 hours till the individual with the guide arrived at a meeting point. It should be stressed in the tour info that you really need a good condition to take this trip. The refuges were fine although the food and the showers in Refugio Bonatti were of poor quality.

Thank you Nordic paddling for an amazing adventure. We experienced a range of weather conditions from rain and wind, to beautiful sunshine! Amazing trip! Seamless from start to finish. Weather didn’t beat us despite a wet and windy start (the seal en route definitely helped), wild camp was amazing and in a location that would be tough to beat - great for a wild swim. Dan our guide was fantastic - very knowledgeable and lots of fun, always happy to answer our silly questions and add to his extensive knowledge of the English language and ‘culture’. The hike to Preikestolen was busy but worth it and the highlight had to be the final day paddling underneath and into the little bays along the Lysefjord. Food was plentiful and delicious and it was lovely to be involved in the preparation, cooking and camp craft. We met amazing people and what impressed me most was that it was such an inclusive trip for the solo travellers amongst us. If you like to rough it for a few days and get your hands dirty with a spectacular backdrop then this is definitely the trip for you! Norway is incredible.

This was a great trip, and an unforgettable experience. I was fortunate to be with a wonderful group people, and an excellent guide, Laura. We gelled well straight away, and there was really good communication. The weather was pretty great too. We made fast progress at the start, though you should be aware that it can be hard work at times, especially when the wind is against you. You have to be prepared for some pretty long days on the water. The food was very good, and the guidance of what to pack is really helpful – my only mistake was perhaps taking more clothes than I really needed! Tents are easy to put up and the camping places were all pretty good, and I was super impressed that our guide Laura (of Scottish Rock & Water) was able to constantly reevaluate and make minor changes to the stopping points as we went, depending on progress and how the group were doing. The food was ideal. The Great Glen is a truly beautiful part of the world – I feel very glad indeed that I undertook this trip.

Wow - but not for beginners! I read the trip description and thought I might be over qualified for it, however this trip took me way out my comfort zone! You need strong boulder experience (very few nice trails) and having crampon experience on glaciers would be helpful, to feel comfortable crossing crevasses (which probably challenged me the most). Walking up the actual peaks in crampons was fine + we managed 4 instead of 2! If you have ski and rock climbing experience those skills would help you to adapt. I will never forget this experience but it was not an easy holiday! This is mountaineering not hiking!

The trip was beautiful, the hikes challenging and scenic, the huts really nice. However, the guide was absolutely horrific: rude, wouldn't give change back, underhandedly brought people on the trip, but worst of all he put my life in danger by giving the order to keep moving as I was putting my gloves on at the risk of pulling me into a crevasse. Thankfully, the other people in the group were more sensible than him

It was a fantastic adventure. The walking distances and altitude differences shouldn’t scare people because the guide takes time and builds in several acclimatisation days. Professional guidance! Doing this trip during monsoon season was a challenge, specifically if planes in Lukla cannot land but luckily there are choppers that always fly. The good thing about raining season too is that you’re practically alone and can even more enjoy the mountains, nature and quietness. A must do trip for any hiker.

Just back from this trip and really enjoyed it. Our group was only eight, apparently small in average, this gave the opportunity for us to not only get to know each other better through forming connections through shared physical challenges by day but also be part of one conversation around the dinner table which I thought worked well. Add a drink or two in the evenings and I found this group of people were really nice with no inflated egos or social barriers. As a result we had many laughs over the few days. Our guide Ben I thought found the right balance between leadership and setting expectations along with integrating into the group. I think his biggest challenge was the need to manage our time and progress whilst being mindful of different individual needs. Ben was able to compromise in a given situation and be direct and honest in others. The accommodation was better than I’d imagined on my first time seeing the refugios. I was impressed by the organisation of the staff with hotel like standards for some aspects like dinner time. Being able to serve dinner to 50 people at such a remote location Can’t be easy. Dorm sleeping beings it’s own challenges and If you are a light sleeper or you know you snore then consider carefully if this is for you. There are no options for finding a quiet spot to get some much needed sleep. Beware! Although I understand alps adventures cannot and shouldn’t need to manage this problem some people have, I do think they should point It out on the website for prospective clients and align all the information they have with the skyhook website as we found some minor discrepancies. The evening food was basic but tasty and that suited me and most of the group. As i mentioned given the location it was impressive. The ‘pic-nic’ lunches that were ordered the night before were just slightly lacking in size and I was glad to have brought some trail snacks. Two and a half days were spent in Switzerland and prices go up so I think the advice on how much cash to bring needs adjusted to include more Swiss franks than euros. Overall, I would recommend this trip, we had some very hot days and fitness is a real requirement as there are long steep ascents. Perhaps a last minute kit list that is more suitable for the conditions could be sent to clients or at least have strict guidelines on pack weight- something that could be done at Vert lodge in chamonix at the Beginning where extra kit can be left. Personally I was struck by the vast scale of the mountains and the beauty of the changing light and dramatic jaw dropping glaciers and rock faces. A humbling place.

This was my first trip with Skyhook and kayaking. I absolutely loved it and can't fault anything. It was an amazing trip from start to finish. Alex and Tom from Land and Wave were fantastic instructors and very chilled. The kayaking is suitable for beginners, we paddled about 15 miles in total the whole weekend so I would recommend some basic levels of fitness/upper body straight would be beneficial but not essential. The campsite was really nice, large bell tents, we had hot showers and a separate tent for the group to relax/charge devices and make tea/coffee. They also provided wood for us to make a fire in the evening. The local town is a short drive or 30 min walk away and has some lovely pubs to have dinner in. I went as a solo traveller which I was slightly apprehensive about but our small group all hit it off so well. There were other solos on the trip. Our group have stayed in touch and some of us are in discussions about doing other adventures together next year. This is not one to miss!

This is differcult to review. There Some good and very bad points I found. Good super convenient, safety, meeting people. Fun. Experience. Information from skyhook. Bad ,drivers. Though our second drivers was smooth. First one didn’t really care for passengers. Team leader far too focused on a fast time. We had almost 2 hours saved up. Which ment 6 people failed the challenge. Just a tad off pace. If it’s that important too do less than 24 hours. Should be advertised. Or split into two groups. One for record timers. And one for 24 hour. Hotel was shocking. Should be struck off from skyhook customers. No welcome. No choice of any food whatsoever. Breakfast was the worst. We started late. And eaten nothing. Disgusting hotel. Our guide was very professional. Could fault that. But treated fit healthy People as failures. There job is difficult. But should be more supportive. Just listen and help a bit more. Slow the pace. Forget doing it in record time.

My trip to Scotland was such an amazing experience. From the onset there was an opportunity to chat with other people on the trip. Our guides Lizzie and Pete were fantastic. Both were highly experienced, well informed and always looking out for our needs and caring about our expectations for the trip. Canoeing was harder than I expected and there was a good deal of shifting heavy loads in between locks but the team effort made it all bearable. Scotland is a beautiful county and the photos shown through Skyhook are true to life. Highly recommended.

A great trip through incredible scenery. The guides (Lizzie and Pete) were exceptional. Their knowledge and experience was immense and Lizzie made wise decisions regarding the weather and when/where to paddle. The food was plentiful and catered for everyone. The canoes were good quality. The only room for improvement would be the tents. I took my own but the others given out were all different, had no instructions and most pegs were bent beyond usefulness. I would suggest these are looked into. Sadly, I fell ill on day three (covid). Lizzie got me a test kit and ensured I was taken back to Fort William so I could get a good night’s sleep before heading home. She checked in on me regularly to make sure I was ok. I would thoroughly recommend this trip.

This was an excellent experience and one that I would happily repeat. Our guides Lizzie and Pete were more than exceptional, you really felt that you were in extremely capable and competent hands and I felt that I learnt so much from them in a short amount of time. Cam our support driver was great fun and kept the group stocked and our canoes in the right place. They were all very welcoming and with the group I was in, it became a friendly family feel very quickly. Looking back through the FAQ sections and information sections, its all makes much more sense now we have been on the trip, so to help others, it would be nice to, in more detail describe the trip and your options with a bit of reality thrown in. So, although you are in a group, you will carry all your own gear and you will of course with the positive team mindset, assist others in the team. You have an 80 litre dry bag that you will need to put your gear in, plus your tent, sleeping blow-up pad, sleeping bag etc, so make sure you pack with an easy life in mind as it gets heavy. Find a way to separate your wet stuff. You will put up and take down your own tent, in the dark/dusk sometimes depending on condition, so my recommendation would be to take your own tent that you are familiar with if you have one. The boats are heavy, and the handles can be unforgiving, so when I do this again I will take gloves to make it easier on my office pampered delicate hands :-). The food prep was great, and Lizzie and Pete did an amazing job keeping us fed, however, if you like your little luxuries, take them with you. I will be taking my own coffee next time, although the team did provide coffee that I did get used to :-) oh.... and don't hope there will be no midges :-) Take you midge cream/spray and use it before you get bitten, not after. In summary, an amazing trip with amazing people, that I will be repeating.

It was an excellent trip. Well organised, and Mark our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and managed the varying levels of the group’s pace well. The food was good and accommodation was spotlessly clean. The route was well planned to be both a challenge and rewarding with stunning views and we were lucky enough to have a great group of people on the trip who collectively created a great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it.

The 4 day hiking was an experience. I loved the vibe, the team, the nature, the food and the stay. Tom lead and guided us through the most spectacular and sometimes “challenging” trails very effectively, by keeping our spirits up and sharing a lot of interesting facts and trivia. Most of all, it was fun and I enjoyed every minute of it. I will be coming back.

It was the best adventure I have ever done so far. Tom Brodie was our guide during the 4 days in the mountains and he was a truly amazing guide. Too early to say but I think I made friends for life during those days. We stick together from the beginning to the end and supported each other along the way. The Alpes are there to be experienced and this is really the best way to do it. Any picture couldn’t express such a beauty. This experience is for people who are fit and healthy. You shouldn’t enter to this if you have any pains and aches waistline bellow. People with vertigo, clumsy or memory fog should also think twice. If you are an experienced mountaineering or fit to walk up for more than 5 hours with a heavy backpack you will certainly have the time of your life. Definitely recommend!

A superb package deal, full of excitement, quality, value and adventure. This is one of those trips that leave you with endless amounts of memories, not only of the incredible scenery, the feeling of self achievement, and the amazing amount of resident enthusiasm, professionalism, and dedication from the guides. The experience is made all that much better due to the well organised, and planned itinerary, the quality of the accommodation that brings people together from all over the World, and the outstanding value of the Tour. The use of two tour guides with excellent local knowledge, provided us with a great support group around us, with them constantly checking on our welfare, and always offering encouragement to keep going. The group of people were superb, a great friendly environment for us all, and this gave us a collective mindset to believe we were capable of completing every stage of the tour. Paddy one of the guides also possessed an incredible amount of local knowledge from routes, to knowing what every Alpine plant was that we came across. I could not recommend this enough, it has everything, stunning scenery, outstanding value, well organised, planned and demands every person to work towards a wonderful personal challenge, what more could you ask for on a Alpine walking Tour. A 5 star experience all day long

This was a beautiful trek with everything very well organized. The huts were surprisingly comfortable and the food was also good. The pace was good, too. And I cannot praise our guide Paul enough! He was always positive, motivating and supportive, very knowledgeable about hiking/trekking/climbing, the mountains and the surrounding area. I think that the short talks (by Paul) about nature and climate change and how it affects the areas we were walking through would be a wonderful part of any hike, it really makes you more conscious of your surroundings. Our guide "apprentice" Minna was also wonderful, always there to cheer us on and helping us expand our knowledge about plants and nature in general. This was my first multi-day trek and I am so glad that I got to do it with these amazing guides and our awesome group!

Paul and Minn were just great joy to be with. They were super patience, lively and knowledgeable. Despite the heat, they made this tour fun and easily achievable! The staying at the huts was also much better compared to average refuge huts that I was used to. There were always decent showers, generous breakfasts and tasty dinners. To get decent sleep, I can only recommend to come prepared because you will be in a shared room :) Also a big shout to Louise, another organiser of this tour who helped to make this trip happen for me despite some odd travel complication, “Thank you!”

Amazing trip, guide ian was incredible also. As a group we made it in 25 hours we are telling our selves with 45 min driver stop and 15 min driver change that makes 24 hours 🤣 my only issue the availability to ensure food and rest is prioritised. There are hardly any stops, and when factoring in traffic, the group missed dinner arriving at hotel past 8.30. You can go to town, but after a 10 hour drive you just want to get into bed and rest. However if you stock up at every stop this is easily managed, just more information would be useful when booking.

I booked the 4 day Tour du Mont Blanc trip and trained for this for 3-4 months before the start date. The pace of the hike was simply too quick, close to unbearable as the rest of the group was ‘quite fit’. I overheard that ‘these people are getting frustrated’ once my friend and I were falling behind. This was not a holiday, but it felt like a race, no time to take photos to enjoy the views or connect with nature. and I thank the guides for being there, however, when I take a photo and I hear behind ‘keep going, keep going’, this does not feel like a holiday any more. The physical strain is huge. Having a mental strain on top to get to the end point on time because the driver might get cross if we’re late, this is just adding up to the stress of a hard climb with hardly any breaks. I pulled out of the trip middle of second day and asked if there was a refund. No refund and No interest whatsoever in feedback or what went wrong. I was not the only one in the group who almost fell sick on the trail, luckily I pulled out at the right moment. Money badly spent on a stressful trip. The biggest regret is having no time to enjoy the scenery.

Amazing adventure in the heart of the Alps This was my first experience of such a long hike from hut to hut - and I should say it was absolutely amazing!!! I don't know what did I expect but views definitely shifted all possible expectations. The route includes very picturesque points, to let participants enjoy the views and forget about the excercise they need to make to see those. The tour was also a nice opportunity to meet new people. Our group built a really nice and supportive team - everybody was always looking back and asking if the next person is OK or needs help. Of course the tour would not be so interesting without our guide Paul, who seem to know everything about surrounding mountains and nature and shares this knowledge with the team. Paul was very caring for the group helping and supporting as necessary. Next year I'm definitely in for Matterhorn Highlights tour.

Hello, I joined a group a couple of weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Except disappointingly we did not manage to paddle to Inverness because of the wind. Mother Nature took over. We stopped at Port Augustus which was stunning. Luckily our group got on, we had real team work and spirit. We keep intouch. The only thing was the portage, emptying the canoes and lifting them across the locks. You really need to be physically capable of this. I recommend any like minded people to do this, its great for the soul.

Stunning scenery, and a real feeling of peace and getting away from modern day trappings. It is a long way though! I had signed up to the trip with little thought to my fitness or skill levels and didn't quite realise the length of the trip until we took the coach from Inverness to Fort William. 'All abilities' is, I feel, pushing it a bit - you need a basic level of fitness. However, no day really felt like a slog - and this was completed with a heavy cold in my case. Each day, the canoe was loaded with apportioned group essentials and we paddled until a mid-morning tea break, then to lunch, then another break, then camp. The guides, Lizzie and Lena, were very knowledgeable and good fun, and provided the help we required, whilst still letting us discover things for ourselves. Whilst we weren't able to complete a full run of Ness, the call was made with our safety in mind and there was no doubt it was the correct one. Loads more food than we could eat. Logistics van met with us several times and was supportive, providing me with a Covid test, another chap was taken to have a tick bite checked (speaking of wildlife, midge nets are essential), town runs for extra beer, etc. The trip is very hands on, with everyone expected to pull their weight and contribute. If you are expecting everything to be set up for you, you will be disappointed. Portage is required at several points, and it's a hard slog, so my advice would be to pack as lightly as possible. Likewise, you'll need to be able to pitch a tent, help with washing up and offer whatever skills you can to make the trip go smoothly (in my case, I helped cooked breakfast one morning). If you're open to it, this all enhances the trip and helps build rapport with the rest of the group (I was very lucky in this case, as everyone was lovely). Overall, I would be happy to recommend this trip.

(Jul 2022)
This trip is truly amazing, the scenery is breathtaking, the peace and tranquility is staggering. The description states that it is for all abilities, however, this may be abit misleading. Yes, you can do it with minimal training and don't need to have any previous paddling experience, but, the portage sections, especially the one at Fort Augustus, can be brutal. Unpacking your canoe, then transferring from one section to another, then repacking can be very tiring. The equipment used, and by that I mean the tents, were very easy to put up even without any instructions...one tent in particular took 4 or 5 of us to figure it out on the last night. The sites used were excellent, and this being my first foray into the world of wild camping and camping in general, I felt they could not have chosen better spots. The food, considering was being prepared on camping stoves etc, was actually surprisingly excellent, and the stops along the way were also well catered for. The support van met us at various areas to restock with food etc, and this was very efficient. One of the things that made this trip, was the excellent guides we had, and they were Lizzie (along with Blodyn her Welsh collie), and Lina. Both were an absolute scream, and made us feel as though we could accomplish the trip. Lizzie was very informative about the areas we were paddling through, as well as giving us instruction, and Lina was excellent at giving us instruction as well. We were not able to complete the whole trip due to the weather conditions on Loch Ness, and thankfully both Lizzie and Lina took the decision to not put us at risk, so we had a cracking day paddling the river at the last camp. All in all, it was a phenomenal trip, and definitely one I would recommend....just be prepared for the portage areas, as they are not very well described.

Just got back from this trip and had an amazing time. The schedule was great and well balanced between activities and chill time. My fitness is very average but I found all the activities very doable. The hike up to Pulpit Rock was a highlight, just make sure you continue up a bit higher to get the best views of the fjord and the rock itself. The packing list suggestions may look long but I used every single item (just don’t overpack as everything needs to fit in the kayaks and it’s a tight squeeze!). You can still bring suitcases and then leave them in the van until you depart, bringing everything into the kayak to camp in your dry bags. Finally a big shout out to Sebastian who was an amazing guide. He gave really clear instructions on the schedule and hiking/kayaking tips, constantly made sure everyone was okay, and was generally a really chilled and funny guy. I massively recommend this tour.

I had the most amazing experience with the guys at Nordic Paddling. The whole 4 day trip was well organized and the kit provided was really good quality. Our guide Sebastian was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and made what was a challenging trip for me really enjoyable and achievable. I loved every minute of this and would do it all again next weekend if I could. Can’t recommend this enough.

Had the best time on this great 4 day trip. The whole time it felt like the best school journey( for adults obviously). Our group were so much fun and we were lucky enough to have got great weather our guide Ben was very encouraging with each and everyone of us, he did a fabulous job of getting us to each of the lodges. Big thank you to Ben. . The accommodation was great fun too. The only downer was the lunch from the first lodge in Italy, it was diabolical!

This was a great trip from start to finish. Hiking so good i cant even choose the best bits! Scenery was absolutely stunning, met a great group of people and had so many laughs. Ben our guide was great, set a nice steady pace and kept us all going and eventually caught on to the Irish sense of humour - Would have to give him 5 stars *****. Have definitely made memories for life and would absolutely recommend. I will do another trip with Skyhooks in the future as everything was taken care off and went so smoothly. Thanks for an epic holiday!

What a wonderful trip, from beginning to end! What was best about it all? The people who shared the experience, the guides who looked after us or the sites and scenery that we were able to take in? I can’t decide which made the trip special but it all came together lovely. I have forgotten the hard ground, whilst camping and the wet feet during launching. We are still thrilled at the joy of achievement the journey and completing the 100km adventure, thank you Skyhook !

Amazing 5 days, an adventure which is why I boooked the trip. Our guides Sam and Kam from Goodtogo adventures where fantastic guides and kept our sprits high and very well fed and watered. I had the most amazing time. Sam was a brilliant guide and everything worked out perfectly, including the weather! The group was lovely too, which helped and the food was astonishing, given the cooking equipment. I used to hate camping but I loved wild camping in Scotland - it's a unique experience - and I was so proud to paddle the Great Glen. Overall it was a very nice experience. Some problems arised with a local company at a last minute and we are very grateful to Skyhook fox fixing everything. At the very end we were traveling with Ashante tours and they were very welcoming and accomodating. Umbwe route is said to be very difficult. Personally for us it was not a case as we were expecting a bigger challenge. I believe the other travelers, especially the ones with some hiking experience should not be discouraged by it. On the first 2 days we were alone on the route, which was really nice and rewarding.

My canoe trip with Sam from Good 2 Go was amazing. I had high expectations and it lived up to them. Sam and Cam were excellent guides and great cooks. Sam had great knowledge and helped us improve our canoeing skills. Both he and Cam made sure we stayed safe, while ensuring we had a great all-round experience and timed the stops and camps carefully so we could take some time out to relax, but also complete this epic adventure. I can't recommend highly enough.

First of all we had a lovely time. Very kind people in our group, great hikes. However, we felt that our guide was a bit in a hurry. Sometimes he walked 100-200 m before the first one of our group. And if the last one arrived, most of the time we had to go on immediately. (We were not the last one though, but still.) There were some “level varieties” in our group, so we understand that you can’t go as one group the whole time. But, a better plan one forehand would have give us a more pleasant time.

Trip planning and the logistics with Skyhook was good; information was thorough and relatively accurate. Vert Lodge was excellent. The hike route was well planned. Despite the information provided by Skyhook, a different guide Nicolas met us on the start day. Nicolas was knowledgeable and was willing, most times, over the duration of the hike to answer questions and offer information about the mountain and the hiking logistics. My group had a few less experienced and less fit hikers than I would have expected on a trip like this; one hiker was removed by Nicolas after the first day (rightfully). I sensed a "couldn't care less" attitude and lack of personal engagement (waiting to be asked rather than offering information about timings, coordination). For those of us who kept up and were at the front of the pack, we benefitted from his engagement and I would say it was a good trip. However, for the women and for those who required more time to keep up, I would argue Nicolas requires additional education and training. As a father and a former soldier who has spent time in the mountains and leading groups, I would not recommend your company to my daughter or female counterparts.

The view was amazing, the group was great, the guide rushed a bit trough the trip so it was almost no time to take photos and enjoy the view. And those that walked a bit slow was left behind alone in the back with 10-15 min gap to the group (no breaks for the slow walkers). Luckely the group was good and took fare of those left behind and everyone reached the goal. Maybe a diffrent guide would have made the trip 100%.

Fantastic trip organised via Skyhook. The whole 5 days were very well organised, all by local people. Picked up from my Riad at Marrakech by Hassan who was very informative and kind. We forgot our head torches for the mountain climb and Hassan was kind enough to get two from his home for us to borrow. We then met Mustapha our guide at Imlil for the two day hike up the mountain. Also there was Ilbrahim, our muleteer who took care of our bags for the trip up. Mustapha clearly knew this trek so well and the first day hike to the refuge/ base camp was pleasant with great views, lots of stops for drink. Lunch was made on the mountain by Ilbrahim who created such a lovely meal, displayed like any good restaurant could have done but with minimal cooking equipment on his mule. Amazing and there was always more than enough to eat. The night was spent in base camp, with another huge dinner and a time to relax with other fellow hikers on the same climb. The next morning was an early start (0500 walking start) after a great breakfast provided. The hike up to the summit was about 3-3.5 hours and I have to say was not as easy as I thought it would be. You do need a decent level of fitness and leg strength to get you up. I’m 51 and run regularly and found I had to put a lot of effort in to get there. Mustapha was always there checking to see I was ok and providing lots of breaks and encouragement. I found it quite emotional when I reached the top with my son and it was a moment I will never forget. There was a group hug of me, my son and Mustapha. Lots of photos at the summit and then the long walk back down to Imlil with lunch again in between, provided by the best cook/muleteer Ibrahim in the most scenic of places in the mountains. That night was spent at Mustapha’s family guest house which was clean and comfortable with a great dinner and breakfast provided. Mustapha took us down to a cafe in Imlil to show us this village and his own where we had a drink and watched the life of the village go by. So interesting for someone who has never experienced a Berber village. Day 3 we were picked up by Hassan again and the trip to the desert began. On the way Hassan stopped off to show us a market brimming with people looking to buy a sheep/ goat for Eid. This was an amazing experience. The trip took us to Ait Benhaddou, Ouarzazate and ending up in Dades Valley. That night was spent in a fantastic Berber family hotel. A great air conditioned room with lovely views of the valley and a fantastic dinner. We were then blessed by the owner and all of his family playing music/songs to just me and my son and Hassan, where we later joined in on the drums. This was a family proud to be Berber and willing to show that they want to share in everything they have and do. The memories of us playing together I will always remember with happiness. The next day we were taken by Hassan to Todra Gorge which was amazing to see. A mini Grand Canyon. A stop off at a woman cooperative for making/selling carpets was next which was ok. There was no obligation to buy but it can be difficult to say no when you are the only customer there. That said my son bought a small rug for £100 which is a lot of money but it will hopefully last a lifetime , is hand made and supports the local people so we were happy to do this. We could have said no if we did not want it. Next was a long drive to Merzouga through a lot of desert. There are a lot of towns/villages on the way and you now feel you are in the desert wilderness. It is a long drive so make sure you purchase a lot of water for the drive. Lunch stop at a restaurant and good value for a 3 course meal for £10. We arrived early at our hotel meeting point to pick up the camels and after a mint tea were gifted the use of the hotels swimming pool. This was amazing and when the temp was around 45-47 degrees was heaven sent. Our bags taken by car to the desert camp we were then transported by camel for a great trek through the desert at sunset. I’ve done a few camel trips in the past, including Cairo pyramids but this was so much better. The staff working the camel trip and camp were very welcoming. Remember it is a tourist attraction but they do so well making you feel you are living in the desert. The camels take you to your camp where we had our own ensuite tent with shower, sink and toilet. We were there at one of the hottest times with the evening temp still around the late 30’s and you need to remember there is no escaping that heat, so be prepared. Hassan will stop at a cooperative for clothing and head scarves enroute where you can buy for the desert if you wish but the scarves were £25 each so might be worth bringing your own if you do not want to spend that amount of money. Evening at the camp consisted of a 3 course meal followed by a drum party by the staff. We were quite tired at this point as it was a long day of travelling and I’m not sure I would recommend this part for young children. It might be easier at cooler times of the year. My son and myself got up early for the sunrise which was good and we then had the choice of the camel ride back (90 mins) or a 15 min 4x4 ride. As we had a long drive back we decided on the 4x4. The drive back to Marrakech was very long (approx 10.5 hours) with a stop for lunch. This was a bit of an endurance in such heat and again I would not recommend this for those who are not prepared to sit in a car for so long in that heat. We did see some sights on the way back of local towns and villages as Hassan took us on a different route so it would be interesting. We finally arrived back in Marrakech for around 1830. A cold shower awaited in our Riad which was much needed. Mustapaha, Ibrahim and Hassan were fantastic. All are Berber (Amazigh) and are so kind and will do anything to make sure the trip is the best they can give. I’m 51 and my son is 20. This was a great trip for us both with so many lifetime memories. One of the main aspects I will take away is the kindness of the Berber people. These are local people trying to make a good living to provide for their families and they will always want to make sure you have the greatest experience. Thanks to Mustapha, Ibrahim and Hassan, we truly did. Highly recommended.

This trip was amazing! Our guide Akis was great & pacing us up the mountain & getting us comfortable with the climb. My only improvement is to Skyhook’s list of things to bring. I brought a full sleeping bag when I was able instead to rent sheets at the refuges. That was a lot of weight to bring with me to Greece that was unnecessary. Also, Akis required hiking boots but the Skyhook list said that tennis shoes or trail shoes were OK. I didn’t bring my hiking boots so had to buy some in Greece less than a week before the start of the trip.

From the beginning at booking almost a year ago till we finished our canoe trip the comms with Steve at scottish rock and water was exceptional. Its hard to leave a review that is not just all glowing and can instead give constructive feedback ..... With that in mind the below is a brain dump. 1 - booking - was painless - we had people swap in and out over the year without issue. 2- food- The entire trip was catered, we had alternate hot cold breakfasts, wraps for lunch and hot evening meal all cooked with the groups dietary challenges in mind ( veggie and myself who was allergic to tomato). There was more than enough food coffee tea and hot chocolate. Only possible constructive i would give on this would be dont forget the tea bags :P ( in group joke) 3- activity - the canoe trip had all sorts of weather wind rain waves the lot. Laura our trip guide was exceptional at motivating us when we needed to dig deep to get across a swell and at the same times with humour and banter to keep spirits up. Her water skills are exceptional and i highly recommend you request Laura if she is available. Her knowledge of where to make camp based on the weather etc was paramount to our success in getting across Ness. Even if we did have to bail at times :P. Taking into account various team members physical ability or experience Laura ensured we felt able to push hard when needed. 4 - kit - we brought our own crash mats but other than that everything else was provided by Scottish rock and water. in terms of personal kit i would recommend scuba boots and seal skin socks, dont forget your sun block, a tick remover, dry bags for inside the barrels since the barrels are not water tight. A Battery pack for cameras and phones recharge and most important a snack bag in a dry bag for munchies when on the water. in terms of midge we used smidge and avon skin so soft. 5- Portage - think the itinerary mentions one or two portage on day 1 or such. in reality there are quite a few. on one day there were 3 portage ( all short distance) on another there were one or two long ish portages. Everyone grouped up 4 to a canoe to get them over so dont worry.

Travelled on: National 3 Peaks Challenge (24 Hours)
(Jul 2022)
Me and my friend booked to take part in the National three peaks challenge with Skyhook. My friend sadly became seriously ill just over a month before we were due to do the hike, resulting in her being unable to participate in the event. We contacted Skyhook on a few occasions asking to move the date until a future date next year, or failing that, for them to refund us (and offered to show evidence of my friends medical condition). They refused.. even though they were advertising a ‘waiting list’ for spaces on our hike! So it was likely that they could have tried to replace us! But no effort to. On the back of that, we decided to still go along on the trip for the ‘journey’ (but not taking part in the hike, instead just did our own thing at each stop) as we insisted we didn’t want to lose £720 just like that! From our experience the tour guide (Josh) was great, very friendly and cooperative with the whole group. Him and the drivers made this trip. There are a few more negatives to mention; 1. the bus driver was provided with slightly different pick up locations to the hikers (which I’m presuming was Skyhooks mess up), causing confusion at the start of the drive, putting us behind on time at the very beginning. 2. We were not informed by Skyhook that our personal belongings would be put into a ‘trailer’ for the whole journey and not on the actual bus with us. This wouldn’t be too bad but the trailer was falling to bits! And just before we approached the last mountain the driver was forced to stop at a services because the trailer had become loose and started sparking! We then all had to squeeze our luggage etc onto the bus and continue the onwards journey (this stop put us behind at least another half an hour…). Quite annoying for the hikers to say they were racing the clock, with this being a 24 hour challenge. 3. Although me and my friend didn’t take part in the hike, we felt there should have been more than 1 tour guide on the trip, as normally if you have hikers of slightly different levels/experience, one would stay with the slower walkers and the other in front with the more capable. This meant that some of the hikers were left to walk on their own if they wanted to go at their own fast pace. Shame we can’t say many positives but the biggest thing for us was how Skyhook unacceptably dealt with us given the circumstances around my friends sudden health scare. We are both keen hikers and when we initially found this company online we thought about using them on a regular for a number of trips we had in mind, but already we’ve talked people out of doing so! It’s the tour guides and drivers (external members) that seem to make these trips worthwhile, not Skyhook themselves! THINK BEFORE YOU BUY!!!
Travelled on: National 3 Peaks Challenge (24 Hours)
(Jul 2022)
I can honestly say that it was not good. The trailer that was used looked like a self-made one. It broke on the highway throwing sparks and the driver kept driving with it. The driving was reckless and it felt unsafe as we were thrown around in the minibus taking on the Scottish and north English roads in the night. I did not feel safe on the road. Bathroom breaks were scares and it meant that hydration was to monitored as we didn't know when we would be able to use a toilet. The briefings were few and only given to a few of the participants. The guide was unable to keep us together as a group but didn't focus on the people in the back. I was asked to turn around because I was stopping to ensure another hiker was keeping up as he had an injured knee. The calculations of the time was a strange one as no one made it on time but there was a lot of fiddling trying to get it below 24 hours. We started just before 8 am on Ben Nevis and no one completed at 8 am on Snowdon. Someone had a hurt knee and there was really no attending to it. Having to wait for the rest of the group for 5 hours near Snowdon. I would have rather waited on the first train at the station to get home. We were not given that option. It was overall a poor experience. I love hiking Mountains and I do that all over the world. My aim was to get some rocks under my feet before I head off to do Kilimanjaro. Please don't waste your money on this it's not worth a twisted knee or ankle. Go somewhere and enjoy your hike. I will not be recommending

The trip got off to a bumpy start with a few minor hiccups, a key snapping in the lock of the van and the second guide not being with us from the start which led to things being a little unorganised and not having a full health and safety run through or formal introductions. This didn't hinder us getting to know each other as we quickly all be came acquainted and enjoyed our time together and with Lizzy. Beth our other leader on the other hand was not friendly and quite frankly ruined the experience for the whole group, if she hadn't joined the trip at all it would have been so much better. She constantly interrupted Lizzy who would be providing us with interesting and useful information, she was rude to nearly everyone in the group and basically treated us like children, to the point she wouldn't leave out a lighter for the first people who would be awake to make hot drinks. It became apparent to the group the working relationship between Lizzy and Beth was quite strained at times at no fault to Lizzy. Towards the end of the trip it was a group consensus we all would have preferred Billy the support guy to have joined us as he was extremely friendly and a laugh when he would join us at stop off's to provide more supplies. We were aware that Beth has ADHD and some of her behaviour can be result of this condition however, I do not believe all her actions can be blamed on this and I do not think she should be in a customer facing role. Lizzy did speak with us individually for our feedback and unfortunately it wasn't positive for the above reasons. I personally wouldn't recommend Sky Hook based on this experience but would recommend booking a trip like this as it was beautiful and the group of people I was with were great and I have made some great friends. If you would like to discuss my review in further detail please do not hesitate to contact me. Kind regards Charlotte King

What an experience! The scenery was spectacular and the group were the best bunch of people I could have wished to have spent 5 days wild camping and canoeing with. Lizzie and Blodyn were wonderful, Lizzie is so knowledgeable and shared so many interesting historical facts on the trip as well as being an excellent instructor and just a genuinely wonderful and inspirational lady. I could chat to her for hours, she is a real asset to your company. Billy was great too, bubbly and fun, interesting and entertaining. I think had the trip had been run by Billy and Lizzie it would have been wonderful. Sadly our other guide Beth was not of equal standard. Beth frequently spoke to the group as if we were naughty school kids, she was rude and patronising. She would talk over the group and show off, constantly shifting the focus onto herself. She would confuse the group by constantly changing instructions then tell us off for doing the wrong thing. Knowing the group were early risers she would not ensure the brew making equipment was available even if this had been requested by the group. Lizzie did lots of the background work alone, Beth certainly did not contribute to the same level. On the last day our taxi to fort William was over an hour late but we did not create even though we were all exhausted and just wanted to start our onward travel. Beth was in the group heading to Inverness, her only focus was catching her connecting train, she frequently and sternly mentioned this to her group and told them not to faff about and to get into the taxi as soon as it arrives. Again it was all about her and not about the group. I don’t like leaving bad reviews but as we are at the beginning of the season hopefully you can find a better guide to support Lizzie to make future trips better for Lizzie, Blodyn, Billy and the future participants.

Sleeping arrangements were uncomfortable for a bed dweller like myself. One of the guides wasn't the best to put it politely, but to be fair the other two were great. The weather was against us and next level wet at times, this meant a reduction in our paddling time and I came home with two tick hitchhikers, but I loved it. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The scenery was beautiful, even when it was peeing down. There is not a picture that can do it a speck of justice. I was with a great group of people, we bonded really well and had a proper giggle together. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

This trip has so much potential to be an amazing adventure - the scenery was absolutely stunning and being out on the water in the loch was incredible. Unfortunately though, as noted by a couple of other reviews from our group below, as a group we agreed this experience fell very short, and in our case, we left a day and a half early. Our primary issue was a lack of structure and leadership throughout the trip. It felt, for the most part, that there was little to no communication between trip leaders/guides both before and during the trip. As a result, plans, safety briefings, tutorials, and goals were very poorly communicated to the group, if at all. This meant in some cases we spent as little as two hours a day on the water during fair weather, as opposed to the six in the itinerary, and made the instructions we did receive often frustrating when a prior tutorial hadn’t occurred. We very much appreciate that the nature of outdoor adventures means plans will always change, and often at the last minute, but feel it should be expected for the guides to have communicated the initial goals of the day to the group each day before setting off, any changes as needed, and the suggested duration of stop-offs to help manage the expectations of the group and keep motivations high. Very often there was no plan conveyed throughout the entire day. It would also have been useful have an agreed leadership structure for the guide team beforehand, to avoid conflict. Overall, this lead to an incredibly frustrating experience, with little structure, canoeing or information, which led us to leave the trip a day and a half early. Upon our return from the trip, our entire group was emailed personally by Skyhook asking for details and offering credit, however since sending this feedback we have heard nothing from them. We can see this has the potential to be an amazing trip – the scenery is truly stunning, the availability of food (and that they were willing to take last minute requests) exceeded our expectations and the equipment provided was perfect for the job. We didn’t even have too much bother from the midges! Ultimately, I think we were unlucky with the team who ran this particular trip, as I can see many others had a wonderful experience!

I appreciate that the weather can change plans. While it was disappointing not to complete the trip I felt that my major concern was that there was a general lack of group leadership and one guide managed to marginalise some, if not all, of the group participants. Billy as the stand in head guide driving the support vehicle was extremely good. Had he travelled with the group in the canoes I believe that we would have learned more canoeing skills and made the whole experience more enjoyable.
